- Meconium
- The first stool of a newborn; sometimes tested for substance exposure during gestation.

- NAS / NOWS
- Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome / Neonatal Opioid Withdrawal Syndrome — the constellation of withdrawal signs that can occur in newborns exposed to opioids or other substances during pregnancy.
P
- Presumptive Test
- An initial, screening-level toxicology test (often immunoassay) that indicates the likely presence of a substance; confirmatory testing is required to establish identity.
